There is an impressive range of DAB CD players available in the shops and online.
DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) is a digital radio technology employed by broadcasting radio stations. It is in use in several countries none more so than Europe. The BBC was the first to launch dab radio back in 1995 and since the late 1990′s, dab receivers have been available in many countries.

Sometimes dab radios are stand-alone but often they are combined as shown (left) with a clock and a cd player.
The small, lightweight Pure model shown here, which is an ideal size for a bedside table, has a 3.5mm input which enables connection to an iPod, MP3 player or portable CD player using the Pure Chronos CD as stereo speakers. It also includes iPod dock adaptors x7 and a remote control.
Of this model, one purchaser at amazon.co.uk wrote, “All I really wanted was a CD/MP3 player with speakers and a sleep setting so that I could set a CD running with relaxing music to help me to sleep but not be on all night with a speaker buzzing away. I struggled to find anything until I came across this item – the PURE Chronos CD DAB/FM/CD/MP3 Stereo Clock Radio. This does just what I wanted and much much more. If I don’t want to put a CD on, I can get Classic FM on DAB to lull me to sleep. It also has a remote control and a is a clock radio. The clock / display dims at night and has pre-sets for DAB & FM stations. It’s Magic.” In the interests of fairness, not all the reviews
are quite so complimentary.
What sets dab apart from analog broadcasting is that it provides radio reception that is cd quality in areas where its signal is well received. Broadcasts are received clean with almost no background noise. So for people who really appreciate hearing crystal-clear audio, dab really grabs the attention.

Another example of a dab cd is the Roberts MP53 (shown right). 73 customers have offered reviews of this product and the vast majority are highly complimentary especially about its great sound quality.
It sports several desirable functions including a CD/DAB/FM digital sound system with a dock for an iPod and includes a clock, multi-function alarm, multi-function remote and 20 staton presets. It also has a six-position equaliser and separate bass and treble controls. This dab cd also enables recording from CD and radio to SD/USB plus MP3/WMA playback via CD/SD/USB.
